SAMSamurai
This page lists all player-created hotbar (HB) and cross-hotbar (XHB) layout guides and keybindings for the Samurai Class/Job in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail.
Far across the rolling waves, towards the rising sun, there lies the island nation of Hingashi.
In the distant past, the realm’s great lords vied for supremacy over its sea-girt confines in a long and bloody conflict. And taking to battle in their lieges’ names were noble swordsmen whose art was forged in the crucible of war: the samurai.
Eventually, the nation was unified under one banner, and these warriors came to wield their katana not upon fields as part of an army, but upon streets as protectors of the peace.
But as a neglected blade grows dull with rust, so too do men forget their purpose. Amidst waning memories of the old ways, a determined few hold fast to their convictions, hands by katana grips, awaiting the moment for steel to sing.
Samurai V2
Rotation on face buttons now
7.0 XHB\WXHB Crossbars
Main XHB is split up with Directional buttons on LT and Face buttons on RT. WXHB has all the important buttons that you will press on the RT this includes you pot, with healing skills/healing potions on the LT. the Expanded XHB has same skills on both configs and has your AOE skills and de-buff skills plus Limit break.
This setup has a smooth layout that make pressing all your buttons with little stress and with great flow. For 7.0 you can see Zanshin replaces Ikishoten after using it so you don't have to change the layout to accommodate the new skill. And since Shoha and Shoha II are one button it also frees up a place to add either a role action skill or something else.
Hope this helps
Samurai Dawntrail controller setup
Work In Progress SAM controller setup
things to note: I am a casual player and have set this as a draft setup, subject to change on testing, please use as a template. Main XHB is 1, WXHB is 2 and expanded XHB is 3. for simplicity will now be abbreviated to HB1, HB2 and HB3. HB3 is shared on all classes for me, on DPS second wind is always on the same spot RT+ LT + Y along with mount, teleport etc (not shown).
Logic: Most used skills on HB1, big cooldowns/gauge actions/role actions on HB 2. RT of HB1 is single target abilities, LT of HB1 is AOE. This is how I always set up my classes. (Inspired by bun boss FFXIV controller guides)
The SEN abilities are on the directional pad for single target, this is to muscle memory what I should press next. If you look at the layout it is setup to mirror the SEN triangle. Also the face buttons help on what to lead into, if you are going for Gekko or Kasha. For eg. if I want pink flower which is the RIGHT corner of the SEN triangle. I press RT+A for gyofu(hakaze) then RT+ B for shifu, now because I pressed the RIGHT face button (B), to finish the combo I press RT + right for Kasha. I hope that makes sense :P (TLDR: while holding RT, then press A->B->right for pink OR A->X->left for blue OR A->up for turquoise)
side note: you can also put gekko (rear positional) on down and kasha (flank positional) on right/left if it helps you to remember what positional you are going for.
hissatsu abilities are mirrored on HB2, senei and guren which share a timer and the spammable shinten and kyuten, again right side is single target, left side is AOE.
my dps gap closers are always on RT,RT + up and RT,RT + down for consistency.
the iajutsu and tsubame are mirrored to make them easy to press back to back on the Y button so you would go RT+Y into LT+Y.
side note: you can add a second iajutsu to the left side (LT+Y) by moving tsubame to HB2 so you can stay on one side (LT) for AOE combos into tenka goken AOEs. this is what I used before but I would get lazy and forget about tsubames :/
LT + D pad is the ikishoten and meditation corner, how I move these buttons around will depend on testing. please note Ikishoten turns into Zanshin if you're wondering why zanshin is missing from the hotbar. (I haven't even unlocked it yet)
Limit Break is consistently on LT,LT + up. the other role actions are dotted around depending on class.
True north is on the right hand side next to meikyo due to their frequent use and well... opener.
SAM 7.0
I show Cross Hotbar 3 (Left) with both of the expanded trigger controls, so you can easily add in another 8 actions if you prefer, I use XHB 8 as a shared bar between all classes for traversal and general actions outside of combat. Role actions are consistent among my layouts, and so are general actions. The macro icon is a placeholder for a Tincture/Gemdraught.

SAM 7.0
Current WIP for updated hotbars in 7.0, focusing on minimising swapping hotbars in combat and keeping visual clarity on relevant buff cooldowns and maximising consistency across all jobs. Bar 1 is for single target, and Bar 2 for AoE.
The Glamour Plate button is being used in place of the newly added skill as needed, and the dye represents potion. Sprint and LB are macroed to L3/R3 respectively.
Enpi placed differently to other melee ranged attacks due to use as a filler skill.

Noko Steamdeck Samurai
How I set up my crossbars as a Samurai on steamdeck (Currently level ~65)
I try to play every classes/jobs, thus I tend to reuse same slots for same "functionality" across jobs.
Used the following link to add keybinds to the back triggers : https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/vdnmji/advanced_controller_tips_for_steam_deck/
||| L4 -> Target nearest enemy ||| R4 -> Cycle through enemies (nearest -> furthest) ||| L5 -> Sprint ||| R5 -> Inventory
||| L2 + L5 -> Mount ||| L2 + R5 -> Armour chest ||| R2 + R5 -> Chobo inventory
