In days long past, there existed an occult and arcane art known as black magic—a potent magic of pure destructive force born forth by a sorceress of unparalleled power. Those who learned to wield this instrument of ruin came to be called black mages, out of both fear and respect for their gift. Yet great power served to corrupt the judgment of mortal man, and so he unknowingly set out upon the path of ruin.
Adventurers who take the black will become agents of devastation, capable of annihilating those who oppose them through little more than the force of their will.

I created my chotbars to be comfortable, practical, and aesthetic. Nearly all same/similar skills are in the same position across all jobs/roles while allowing for as little finger gymnastics as possible.
My XHB is split between chotbars 2(left) and 7(right)
2 is unique to each job while 7 is shared. Emote icons are (duh) my favorite emotesa and the magnifying glass is my job changer.
Aetherial Manipulation Macro for slots RT, RT Square(X), Cross(A), and Triangle(Y):
/action "Aetherial Manipulation" <t>
/action "Aetherial Manipulation" <X>Replace "X" with party member list number. ex: /action "Aetherial Manipulation" <4>
This will always try to target your hard target first in case you want to use this as normal.

7.0 Black Mage
I have my hotbars set up so that pressing R1 toggles between hotbars 1 and 2, with hotbar 3 as the WXHB.
"1" icon is Aether Compass, "2" icon is Gysahl Greens.
Aetherial Manipulation is actually a macro that looks like this:
/merror off /ac "Aetherial Manipulation" <t> /ac "Aetherial Manipulation" <2> /micon "Aetherial Manipulation"
This uses it on the currently targeted player, or if none is targeted, the second party member (normally a tank).
Sprint isn't on these hotbars because I have it in a macro bound to L3 instead. That macro looks like this:

The reason it's like this is because (so I'm told) Sprint doesn't queue like other actions, so repeating it a bunch in a macro makes it more reliable.

Current WIP for updated hotbars in 7.0, focusing on minimising swapping hotbars in combat and keeping visual clarity on relevant buff cooldowns and maximising consistency across all jobs. Bar 1 is for single target, and Bar 2 for AoE.
The Glamour Plate button is being used in place of the newly added skill as needed, and the dye represents potion. Sprint and LB are macroed to L3/R3 respectively.

Sharpcast will be Flare Star, Sprint is on a macro tying it to pressing in the Left Stick. Fire 1 and 3 are on the AoE crosshotbar to act as emergency movement buttons with the new instant fire paradox and guaranteed Firestarter. Blizzard 1 is on the bar in case of really low level sync

How I set up my crossbars as a black mage on steamdeck (Currently level ~65)
I try to play every classes/jobs, thus I tend to reuse same slots for same "functionality" across jobs.

Ergonomic Gamepad BLM 6.51
I am a software engineer of over a decade and my hand stamina is not what it used to be. Double tapping the bumper or trigger to activate the WXHB may be viable for some, but it isn't for me. This is my attempt at mapping every job I play to the main & extended XHB only. Not only is it better for your hands, but it frees up UI screen real estate.
BLM could use some action consolidation in future but is otherwise relatively light on buttons, which makes this a little easier. I tried to organize oGCDs like Sharpcast, Swiftcast, and Amplifier to flow smoothly with either single- or multi-target fire & ice rotations accessible by simply pressing or releasing the opposite shoulder button.
Ley Lines is a macro - the first cast will place the Ley Lines and every reactivation while Ley Lines is on cooldown will cast Between the Lines: /ac "Between the Lines" /ac "Ley Lines" /micon "Ley Lines"
Under System Configuration > Gamepad Settings > Gamepad Customization > Button Configuration, set L3/R3 to "Execute Macro #98" and/or "Execute Macro #99" for an additional two physical buttons to map. I use one for a targeted limit break macro.
