Ever has man coveted knowledge, and none more so than that of his fate. Thus did he labor to master the skill of foresight—but initial efforts bore little fruit. That is, until he looked to the stars above, which foretell the coming seasons, and learned to read the heavens.

Though this gift is known today as astrology, the people of Sharlayan saw fit to not only read the stars, but to write their movements as well. By attuning their aetherial energies to that of constellations, they learned to wield magicks with heretofore unseen properties.

Thus was astromancy born—a new form of magick which grants its users power over fate. Employing a star globe and divining deck in their miraculous deeds, fortune always smiles upon these masters of arcana.

Right hotbar is mainly damage oriented and commonly used ogcds.

Left are mainly utility and cards. Play are on face buttons as it's personally more comfortable for me.

    Sprint is set to R3.

Hotbar 1: My healers tend to follow this format, with the exception being Sage of course.

Row 1: Single target, regen, DoT Row 2: The job specific goodies. These are three cards. Row 3: Stronger heal, weak regen (in case of roulette sync), esuna Row 4: Zoomies, weak heal (in case of roulette sync), sprint.

Hotbar 2 (ctrl): I tend to put the AoE attack in this corner, then the bubble, then some sort of special AoE. Down along the left side tends to be my two oGCD heals, then the "cure harder" button. Down the middle would be two job-special AoEs, then the "turn regens into shields" button. Down along the right side, these are carry-overs from my SMN sprout days: sleep, lucid dreaming, team DPS buff.

Hotbar 3: Let's begin with the legacy carry-overs from my sprout SMN hotbar - surecast, swiftcast and raise. I also like to see LB as an advanced raise so it gets to stay on that row too. The leftover spots on the left side tend to be the tank assists. I'm not sure where else macrocosmos can be swapped in to so I've left it here. It's not used that often either.

Current WIP for updated hotbars in 7.0, focusing on minimising swapping hotbars in combat and keeping visual clarity on relevant buff cooldowns and maximising consistency across all jobs. Bar 1 is for single target, and Bar 2 for AoE.

The Glamour Plate button is being used in place of the newly added skill as needed, and the dye represents potion. Sprint and LB are macroed to L3/R3 respectively.

    Play/Redraw/Undraw represent Draw 1/2/3 respectively.

This layout focuses healing skills on the LT bars and damaging/buffing skills on the RT bars. Special care is taken to consider how inputs flow into each other. For example, the ally-targeted oGCDs are placed on the D-pad because you will already be using the D-pad to scroll through the party list and select a party member.

Face buttons are more accessible while using the left stick to move, so core GCDs and untargeted card actions are placed there, along with Swiftcast and Sprint.

Additional damage buffs and skills are placed on the RT>LT bar. Healing oGCDs are placed on the LT bar so they can be quickly accessed between Malefic casts. Healing GCDs are pushed back to the LT>RT bar, which is slightly more out of the way. However, this is usually not an issue because you are already committing an entire GCD to use them, unlike the oGCD heals which will often be used between Malefic casts.

The less frequently used skills are placed on the LT, LT bar face buttons, mirroring the position of their counterparts.

    Notes

    • Repose is completely optional.

    • Undraw is not included because you should never be in a situation where it is better to throw away a card instead of playing it.

    • The potion icon on the RT>LT bar is for Tinctures of Mind.

    • The healer role macro icon on the LT, LT bar is for Super-Ethers.

    • The chat bubble macro icon on the LT>RT bar is for a party chat macro that you can press alongside Ascend to announce who you're raising. It's not combined into an Ascend macro because abilities used through macros are less responsive, as they do not use the skill queueing system.

      • /p Raising <t>

    • The Earthly Star on the RT>LT bar is a macro that improves speed and responsiveness compared to a non-macro version of the ability. It does this by skipping the ground targeting prompt. This will immediately place the ability wherever the ground target circle would be if you brought up the ground target circle. Generally, on a controller, this will be wherever you're looking, roughly in the center of your screen.

      • This is still less responsive than real action queueing, but ground targeted skills don't queue in the first place. The macro allows you to simulate a degree of queueing while also skipping the step of confirming the placement via the targeting circle, which is why it's actually more responsive for placing the ability than the non-macro version.

      • Without any <wait> commands, macros execute one line per frame. By repeating the command 13 times, there is a 13-frame window for each button press in which the macro will send the action command if you finish your previous action within that window.

    • The extra Earthly Star on the RT, RT bar is a non-macro version of the ability that you can use to see where your ground target circle is, relative to your camera angle. This is useful if you ever need to be more precise with the placement, and it is a good visual reference to learn how to angle your camera for the macro version. It's also more responsive than the macro for manually detonating Earthly Star because the detonate command is able to use the action queueing system.

How I set up my crossbars as a astrologian on steamdeck (Currently level ~65)

I try to play every classes/jobs, thus I tend to reuse same slots for same "functionality" across jobs.

Used the following link to add keybinds to the back triggers : https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/vdnmji/advanced_controller_tips_for_steam_deck/

    ||| R4 -> Cycle through enemies (nearest -> furthest)

I'm a small streamer that loves FFXIV and many other things. The XHBs I publish are solely how I personally like to organize my Hotbars when on the controller! Feel free to use them if you too like them! Some are thrown together and some are planned out.
